Malacañang clarifies there have been no discussions about removing Jonvic Remulla from his position as Secretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
The Palace on Monday addressed rumors regarding the potential removal of Jonvic Remulla as Secretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG). According to Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro, there have been no official talks or confirmations about replacing Remulla, contrary to speculations circulating in the media. She mentioned that alternatives being considered allegedly include former DILG chief Benhur Abalos or ex-senator Antonio Trillanes IV, but emphasized these remain unconfirmed. Castro also shared that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. last communicated with Remulla on Thursday, following a shooting incident at the Senate. Castro stated, “On a personal note, I have not observed any loss of trust from the President towards Secretary Jonvic Remulla at this time.” This statement aims to dispel ongoing rumors about a possible cabinet reshuffle affecting the DILG leadership.
