The Philippine government announces a financial aid package to support displaced Filipino workers affected by the economic situation in Saudi Arabia.
MANILA — The Philippine government has announced it will provide a one-time financial assistance of ₱10,000 to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) displaced in Saudi Arabia. This support aims to alleviate the immediate hardships faced by those who have lost their jobs or have been significantly affected by recent economic disruptions in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Labor Secretary Susan Ople confirmed the initiative, emphasizing the government’s commitment to assisting OFWs amid global economic challenges. The aid forms part of a broader package designed to support displaced workers, including repatriation assistance and reintegration programs.
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is coordinating with Philippine embassies and consulates to identify eligible beneficiaries and facilitate the distribution of the financial aid. This measure intends to provide immediate relief while helping displaced workers transition during this difficult period.
Officials continue to monitor the situation closely, urging displaced OFWs to register with their nearest Philippine consulate to access available government assistance and updates on employment opportunities.
This support aligns with previous efforts to protect and assist Filipino migrant workers abroad, ensuring that they receive adequate aid during crises.
