Following a three-day conference, 70 aspiring entrepreneurs—including youth and returnee migrant workers—are embarking on a 90-day intensive business incubation program to develop local ideas into investable enterprises.
DHANGADHI, Nepal — Seventy aspiring entrepreneurs have been selected to participate in an intensive business incubation programme aimed at transforming local ideas into viable enterprises in Sudurpashchim Province. The selection followed a three-day conference organized by the Incubation Centre of Kailali Multiple Campus under Sudurpashchim University, which attracted hundreds of young participants from across the province.
Of the chosen participants, 35 are students of Kailali Multiple Campus, while the other 35 come from outside the campus community. Over the course of the next 90 days, these entrepreneurs will receive specialized training and mentoring from subject experts to refine and develop their business ideas.
The programme, themed “From Local Potential to Investable Enterprises,” focused on practical entrepreneurship skills such as business planning, investment management, financing access, loan procedures, and presentation skills. A notable emphasis was placed on supporting returnee migrant workers and recent graduates, groups seeking alternatives to traditional employment opportunities.
Organizers highlighted that participants were not required to have existing registered businesses or fully developed proposals prior to joining. Instead, early-stage entrepreneurs were encouraged to present ideas grounded in local resources, skills, and opportunities, facilitating an environment where concepts could be tested and improved through expert feedback and investor engagement.
During the programme, ongoing entrepreneurship training culminates in a Demo Day, where participants will present their business ideas to investors and stakeholders. Rajendra Bir Chand, coordinator of the organizing committee, stated the initiative aims to empower young people to transform innovative ideas into sustainable businesses.
Participant Rajan Bhatta described the programme as a valuable opportunity to gain practical knowledge on building and presenting business concepts. The initiative enjoys support from the National Planning Commission and the Sudurpashchim provincial government and engages local governments, financial institutions, private-sector partners, and development organizations.
Dr. Lok Bahadur Bista, chief of Kailali Multiple Campus, emphasized the broader goal of promoting enterprises leveraging local resources and technology to create employment opportunities within the province.
