The Digital 2026 Philippines report reveals rapid growth in social media user identities, highlighting the platform's expanding role in Filipino daily life.

According to the Digital 2026 Philippines report released by DataReportal and presented by Meltwater, social media user identities in the Philippines increased by 9 million within a year, reaching a total of 95.8 million as of October 2025. This marks a 10.3% year-on-year growth, the fastest among key digital indicators in the country. The number accounts for approximately 81.9% of the estimated Philippine population of 117 million.

This growth surpasses that of internet users and mobile connections during the same period; internet users increased by 789,000 (0.8%) to 98 million, while cellular mobile connections rose by 4 million (3%) to 137 million. The report indicates that social media platforms remain central to communication, entertainment, commerce, news, and community engagement among Filipinos.

However, it is important to note that the reported social media user identities do not necessarily represent unique individuals, as many users maintain multiple accounts, and some accounts are affiliated with businesses or organizations. The Philippines is also noted for having an internet adoption rate of 83.8%, surpassing the global average of 73.2%. Additionally, cellular connections exceed the total population, suggesting multiple SIM ownership per individual.

Population growth was recorded at approximately 942,000 people, or 0.8%, with nearly half of the population residing in urban areas. DataReportal aggregates data from various government, telecommunications, and analytics sources to provide these insights.
