Travelers continue to return to their provinces during the Holy Week in the Philippines, with a noted decrease in passenger numbers at key transport hubs compared to previous days.
As the Maundy Thursday of Holy Week 2026 unfolds in the Philippines, many individuals are still traveling back to their home provinces. However, the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) has seen a reduction in passenger volume compared to the previous day, with about 138,000 passengers recorded by 6 p.m., according to a report on GMA News. Passengers remarked on the more relaxed conditions relative to earlier in the week, and some travelers chose to secure tickets for post-Holy Week trips to avoid congestion.
Similar patterns were observed at bus terminals along EDSA in Quezon City and Cubao, where long queues persisted but no major incidents were reported. At Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3, fewer travelers were observed compared to past years, including numerous Overseas Filipino Workers departing the country. Enhanced security measures remain in force at airports and bus terminals despite the lower passenger numbers. Authorities anticipate continued, but lighter, crowds entering PITX on Good Friday. No untoward events have been reported at these transport centers during this period.
