Over 1.3 million visitors paid their respects at Manila North Cemetery on November 1, 2026, in observance of Undas, with the event proceeding smoothly without major incidents.
The Manila North Cemetery recorded a significant influx of visitors, with over 1.3 million people visiting on November 1, 2026, as part of the traditional observance of Undas or All Saints’ Day. Daniel Tan, the cemetery’s director, reported that 1,342,000 visitors came through the gates during the day. Despite the large crowd, there were no major untoward incidents, and the cemetery’s operations went smoothly. Minor occurrences included several children getting separated from their companions, but they were promptly located using the cemetery’s paging system.
Visitors brought various items to maintain and honor the gravesites, but cemetery inspectors confiscated prohibited objects such as paint, spatulas, and cleaning equipment to maintain order and safety. No attempts to bring in disguised alcoholic beverages were reported. The free ride service provided by the cemetery concluded on October 31.
November 1 and 2 were declared special non-working days to allow Filipinos to visit the graves of deceased loved ones in keeping with cultural tradition. Cemetery officials noted a decrease in visitor numbers on November 2. The observance reflects the strong Filipino tradition of honoring deceased family members and community members during Undas.
