President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. commemorated the 109th birth anniversary of his father, former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr., highlighting the values of sacrifice and public service he learned and now applies in his own leadership.
On September 11, 2026, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. honored the 109th birth anniversary of his father, the late former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr., by leading a wreath-laying ceremony at the Marcos Monument in Batac City, Ilocos Norte. During the commemoration, President Marcos Jr. reflected on the valuable lessons in life and public service that his father imparted to him from a young age.
He recalled that his father taught him by example and leadership, emphasizing the importance of public service and sacrifice. The President shared that one of the key lessons he learned was to avoid taking the easy way out and to always do what is right, no matter how challenging it may be.
President Marcos Jr. underscored that public service should always prioritize the country and its people. He said, “In every decision that we make, we must exercise judgment, put the national interest first, and ask what will best serve the Filipino people. What we do in service of our people is not for ourselves, but for the country and the people. No sacrifice is too great for them.”
He also encouraged that this principle is not only for government officials but for all citizens, urging everyone to serve their fellow Filipinos and contribute to making the Philippines a better place.
Apart from the wreath-laying, the First Family attended a thanksgiving mass at the Immaculate Conception Parish in Batac. President Marcos Jr. also participated in local cultural activities, including the Natnateng Cook-off at the Imelda Cultural Center, showcasing local culinary traditions, and attended a cultural show at the Ilocandia Cultural Center, reaffirming his commitment to Filipino heritage and community development.
