Unique Times

OCTA Research reports that 61% of Filipinos feel elected officials disregard the views and opinions of the public, highlighting a significant trust gap.

A recent survey conducted by OCTA Research revealed that a majority of Filipinos perceive that politicians, both in Congress and local government, do not consider the views of the public. The poll, carried out from December 3 to 11, 2025, sampled 1,200 Filipino adults and found that 61% believe elected officials overlook what ordinary citizens think. Meanwhile, 31% feel their opinions are valued and another 8% remain undecided. When broken down by socioeconomic class, only 28 to 41% across Classes A to E believe politicians consider their views, with the highest skepticism among Classes A, B, C, and D. OCTA Research noted a margin of error of plus or minus 3%. These findings point to a prevalent public sentiment of disconnect between Filipino citizens and their representatives, suggesting a crucial need for increased government responsiveness and engagement.
