In a recent proclamation, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. set April 10 to 16 as Economy, Planning, and Development Week, designating April 10 specifically as DEPDev Day, reflecting institutional changes in national development planning.

Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has officially declared April 10 to 16 of every year as the Economy, Planning, and Development Week, with April 10 specifically marked as DEPDev Day. This declaration was made through Proclamation 1205, signed on March 30 and published on the Official Gazette website. The proclamation replaces the previous observance set by Proclamation 666 in 1990, which designated December 17 to 23 as Socio-Economic Planning and Development Week and December 23 as NEDA Day. The change follows the reorganization of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) into the new Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) in 2025 under Republic Act 12145. The proclamation emphasizes the need to align national observances with the agency’s new structure and to promote public awareness of the importance of socio-economic planning for inclusive and sustainable development. DEPDev is tasked to lead the observance of the new week and day, coordinating programs and activities to advance national development goals. The executive order encourages participation from all government agencies, government-owned or controlled corporations, state universities and colleges, local government units, non-government organizations, and the private sector to actively support the observance. Proclamation 666 and other inconsistent orders have been repealed in favor of this new institutional framework. This change represents a significant step in the Philippines’ focus on structured economic planning and development under its revamped government body, DEPDev.
