Paolini started strong, taking a 4-1 lead in the first set, but Eala fought back, winning three of the next four games to close the set at 5-4. Nevertheless, Paolini clinched the first set 6-4. Eala recovered in the second set, turning a 3-2 deficit into a 5-3 lead by winning three consecutive games. She managed to close the set on her serve, pushing the match into a deciding third set. The final set was closely contested, tied at 3-3 at one point, but Paolini’s experience showed as she won three of the last four games to seal the victory and move on to the quarterfinals.
