An ally of the ex-mayor of Allacapan, Cagayan, asserts that the individual filmed pursuing a vehicle after an alleged unpaid gas incident is actually their friend and not a pump attendant, contesting earlier reports.
A lawyer friend of vlogger and former Allacapan, Cagayan mayor Harry Florida has clarified the circumstances behind a viral video in which a man was seen chasing a vehicle at a gas station, allegedly as a pump attendant seeking payment. According to Atty. Roger Real Paz, who is close to Florida, the man named “Tyson” is not a pump attendant, but their long-time friend and childhood playmate. Paz emphasized that Tyson is still young and had no involvement with any unpaid transactions at the station, which is owned by Florida himself.
The incident reportedly occurred after a meeting at the gas station in March. Tyson allegedly started chasing the vehicle because he wanted to join the group for a snack, not because of a pay dispute. After catching up, Tyson was allowed to ride with them.
Despite this, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) initially issued a show cause order against the passengers of the vehicle and suspended the driver’s license for 90 days, also placing the vehicle under alert during the investigation due to assumptions the driver did not pay for gas.
Atty. Paz questioned the legal basis for the LTO’s actions, arguing there was no breach of law or reckless driving and that the LTO should not involve itself in private disputes between Florida and Tyson. The LTO has yet to comment on these claims. Florida was approached for a statement but declined to comment at this time. The LTO is reportedly working to respond to these assertions.
This clarification challenges earlier public narratives about the incident involving the gas station attendant and highlights the need for thorough investigations before taking administrative actions.
