The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) instructs its regional directors to facilitate the data update and submission for the nationwide fuel subsidy program amid rising fuel prices.

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has ordered all its regional directors to help public transport drivers and operators in updating and submitting their data for the fuel subsidy program. This directive aims to expedite the distribution of financial assistance designed to alleviate the impact of rising fuel prices caused by tensions in the Middle East. The Department of Transportation (DOTr) plans to launch the fuel subsidy of Php 5,000 for qualified transport operators and drivers by the fourth week of March 2026.

DOTr Secretary Giovanni Lopez emphasized the importance of having an e-wallet account for beneficiaries to swiftly receive the subsidy. LTFRB Chairman Vigor Mendoza II highlighted that e-wallet distribution is the fastest and most convenient method, avoiding long queues at distribution sites.

The LTFRB has also invited Electronic Money Issuers to participate as payment channel providers to ensure efficient, secure, and transparent delivery of funds. For those unable or uncomfortable using e-wallets, local government units (LGUs) will set up distribution venues for direct subsidy claims. Mendoza instructed regional directors to strengthen coordination with LGUs to facilitate subsidy outreach for all beneficiaries. This initiative aligns with government efforts to support public utility vehicle (PUV) operators and drivers amid the economic effects of global fuel price surges.
