President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. emphasized education as a fundamental right and the most vital service the government can provide to the youth during a meeting with presidential scholars in Sulu.
During the Bawat Bayan Makikinabang: Sulu program held at Sultan Jamalul Kiram Central School in Barangay Lawm, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. reaffirmed the government’s commitment to education as a key element in empowering young Filipinos. Addressing presidential scholars supported by the Socio-Civic Projects Fund, he stated that education is not a privilege but a fundamental right for all youth. He stressed the importance of providing quality training to enhance the skills of young people nationwide.
“Education will never be lost or stolen from you; it remains a lasting asset that improves not only your livelihood but also your family and community,” Marcos explained. He detailed the government’s allocation of 200,000 Philippine pesos for each barangay, with 100,000 pesos dedicated to scholarships for five selected scholars per barangay, granting them 20,000 pesos each. The selection prioritizes students close to graduation who face financial or employment-related barriers to completion.
This initiative aims to broaden future opportunities for youth, contributing to overall national development. Marcos highlighted that education’s value extends beyond personal advancement, influencing communities and the whole Philippines positively. The program underscores government efforts to make education widely accessible and to support those at risk of dropping out due to economic hardships.
