The Social Security System in the Philippines has launched a new online facial verification portal that enables pensioners to fulfill their Annual Confirmation of Pensioners (ACOP) requirements conveniently without visiting branches.
The Social Security System (SSS) of the Philippines has unveiled an online facial verification system to aid pensioners in completing their Annual Confirmation of Pensioners (ACOP) obligations remotely. This development eliminates the necessity for pensioners to visit SSS offices in person. The new portal employs biometric liveness checks to authenticate the identity of pensioners through the official SSS website, facilitating a faster, more secure, and convenient confirmation process.
SSS President and CEO Robert Joseph De Claro highlighted that the online system assures continuous pension payments by making compliance straightforward. The verification service is available to pensioners registered under the National ID System (PhilSys), including retirement pensioners aged 80 and above, those residing abroad, and survivorship pensioners.
Pensioners with PhilSys registration can access the facial verification system via the SSS website, which guides users through the facial scan and biometric validation using any camera-enabled device integrated with the Philippine Statistics Authority’s national ID eVerify system. De Claro noted that the process takes less than a minute and immediately updates SSS records while confirming a live person’s presence to prevent fraud.
For pensioners without access to camera-enabled devices, assistance is available at SSS branch E-Centers, or pensioners can choose traditional ACOP methods such as in-person visits or scheduled video appointments. This innovation reflects SSS’s commitment to enhancing service accessibility and protecting pensioners’ benefits.
