The Climate Change Commission (CCC) of the Philippines announced on November 3, 2026, the official launch of the Philippine hub in preparation for the 31st United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP31), scheduled from November 9 to 20, 2026 in Antalya, Türkiye. The hub aims to highlight the country’s ongoing climate actions, resilience models, solutions, and policy priorities. Serving as a physical space, the hub provides a platform for the Philippine delegation to share lessons, innovations, and approaches that contribute to global climate discussions and negotiations. This launch coincides with the presentation of the Philippines’ 2026 Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC), an updated climate action plan required every five years under the Paris Agreement framework. In its 2026 NDC, the Philippines recommitted to a 75% emissions reduction target, revising its unconditional reduction goal from 2.1% to 7%, with the remaining 68% contingent on international support. Key priorities outlined in the NDC include adaptation co-benefits such as enhanced infrastructure resilience, ecosystem and public health protection aligned with the National Adaptation Plan (NAP), and the promotion of gender equality, disability inclusion, and social inclusion. It also emphasizes a just transition framework centered on rights and people, recognition of local governments’ critical role in implementing climate actions, youth-focused job opportunities and leadership development, nature-based solutions, circular economy principles, and contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The CCC’s initiative demonstrates the Philippines’ commitment to advancing climate action amid the global challenge, providing valuable insights and leadership in resilience and sustainability relevant also to the welfare of Filipinos at home and abroad.
