Class Suspensions and Shifts to Asynchronous Learning in Several Philippine Schools on October 27, 2026

Multiple schools and localities in the Philippines have suspended face-to-face classes or shifted to asynchronous learning on October 27, 2026, due to governmental activities including hosting significant regional meetings and local preparations.

On Tuesday, October 27, 2026, several educational institutions and local government units across the Philippines announced suspension of face-to-face classes or adoption of asynchronous and online learning modalities for various reasons, predominantly to facilitate government events and ensure public safety.

The University of the East (UE) campuses in Manila and Caloocan will implement asynchronous learning for all levels on October 27. Philippine Science High School-Main Campus suspended classes on October 26 and 27, shifting to online sessions on October 28 and 29.

In Cotabato City, face-to-face classes are prohibited from October 26 to 31, with all levels adopting asynchronous learning in preparation for the inaugural session of the 1st Bangsamoro Regular Parliament.

San Jose, Tarlac, also suspended classes and government office work for all levels on October 27.

Lapu-Lapu City in Cebu, hosting the 20th ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting and the 13th ADMM-Plus, implemented asynchronous classes from October 26 to 30 in selected public and private elementary and secondary schools located in barangays Ibo, Buaya, Mactan, and P. Engao. Several private schools and colleges, including Sto. Nio International School and Lapu-Lapu City College, are included in this adjustment.

These measures are in place to accommodate large-scale governmental and international meetings, ensuring that educational activities do not conflict with official engagements and security protocols.

Updates will continue to be provided by local media and authorities to inform students and parents about any further changes.
