Seven OFWs Injured in Attacks in Saudi Arabia; Three in Critical Condition – DFA

Seven overseas Filipino workers were injured during attacks in Saudi Arabia, with three in critical condition, says the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs.

Seven overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) sustained injuries during recent attacks in Saudi Arabia, with three reported to be in critical condition, according to the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Monday. The injuries were confirmed based on information from the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), which the DFA cited in its report while expressing condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the attacks.

The DFA and DMW are coordinating closely with Saudi authorities to ensure that the injured Filipinos receive the necessary medical care and assistance. The Philippine government reaffirmed its solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in protecting all nationals and residents, including nearly one million Filipinos residing in the country.

These attacks occurred at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on October 10, resulting in at least 12 fatalities and over 300 injuries. The DFA condemned the attacks as a serious threat to regional peace and stability and urged all parties involved to cease hostilities and pursue resolution through dialogue and diplomacy.

Filipinos residing in Saudi Arabia have been advised to heed local authorities’ warnings and continue liaising with the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh and the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah for updates and assistance. Prior to these incidents, Philippine diplomatic missions had advised Filipino nationals to exercise a higher level of caution amid ongoing tensions involving Houthi forces allied with Iran.

Furthermore, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) reported that 34 OFWs from Saudi Arabia returned to the Philippines on Monday, with an additional 65 expected to arrive on October 20, 2026. The Philippine government remains committed to supporting its overseas workers and ensuring their welfare in volatile situations abroad.
