Carlos Edriel Yulo clinched the first gold medal for the Philippines at the 2026 Asian Games, held at the Nagoya City General Gymnasium in Japan. Yulo triumphed in the men’s floor exercise finals with a score of 14.666 points, comprised of 8.966 in execution and 5.7 in difficulty, outperforming seven other gymnasts including his younger brother Eldrew Yulo.
This victory marked the Philippines’ initial gold medal of the 2026 Asian Games, contributing to the country’s overall medal tally of one gold, one silver, and four bronze medals so far. Carlos Yulo will also compete in the finals for vault and parallel bars, with opportunities to add to his medal count.
With this achievement, Yulo completes a remarkable collection of gold medals across major international competitions, including the Southeast Asian Games, Asian Championships, World Championships, and the Olympics.
