President Marcos Inaugurates New Light Craft Port Facility in Camiguin

The newly inaugurated Benoni Port Light Craft Landing Station in Mahinog aims to enhance connectivity and boost the local economy and tourism.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. officially opened the Benoni Port Light Craft Landing Station on Monday in Mahinog, Camiguin. This is the port’s first dedicated facility designed specifically to accommodate light-craft operations. According to President Marcos, the new facility, along with the Port Operations Building, will significantly enhance Camiguin’s maritime connectivity to other key ports such as the Port of Jagna in Bohol and the Port of Balingoan in Misamis Oriental. He emphasized the critical role a modern and efficient port plays for an island community, serving as a vital link that facilitates the movement of people, goods, services, and opportunities—helping families reunite, supporting business logistics, aiding fishermen in bringing their catch to market, and attracting tourists. Additionally, the government intends to further improve accessibility by developing the Port of Balbagon and the Port of Guinsiliban. Philippine Ports Authority General Manager Jay Santiago highlighted that this project goes beyond just new infrastructure; it represents a gateway for economic vitality, tourism growth, and a critical connection for locals and visitors who depend on the port daily.
