A total of 1,559 educators in the Caraga region formally took their oaths after being promoted through the government’s Expanded Career Progression (ECP) framework, aimed at enhancing career advancement opportunities.
On May 24, 2026, a significant milestone was achieved in the Caraga region of the Philippines as 1,559 teachers and school heads officially assumed their new roles following their oath-taking ceremony held at the Agusan Valley Convention Center in Agusan del Sur. These promotions were carried out under the government’s Expanded Career Progression (ECP) system, which was established through Executive Order No. 174 in 2022 to provide a structured career advancement path for public school educators.
Among those promoted were 23 educators who have dedicated up to 39 years of service, along with 91 teachers aged 55 to 64 who started their careers as Teacher I. The ECP system allows teachers to advance either through classroom teaching or school administration tracks without having to wait for vacant positions, thereby ensuring clearer progression and improved remuneration.
Special Assistant to the President Anton Lagdameo Jr. emphasized that the system was introduced to address previously limited career growth opportunities, which caused many skilled teachers to remain stagnant in their roles. He reiterated President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s commitment that no public school teacher will retire at the lowest rank, Teacher I.
Since its initiation in August 2025, nearly 80,000 teachers and school heads nationwide have benefited from the ECP program. Additionally, the government has approved over 32,900 new teaching positions for the School Year 2026–2027 to accommodate growing educational needs.
This initiative marks a significant investment in education quality and worker development, reflecting the government’s focus on uplifting educator welfare and strengthening the public school system across the Philippines.
