Iglesia ni Cristo Rally Expected to Draw Larger Crowd on Second Day, NCRPO Reports

The National Capital Region Police Office anticipates increased attendance for the Iglesia ni Cristo rally at the EDSA People Power Monument on Wednesday, following issuance of a rally permit and coordination for crowd and traffic control.

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has indicated that the Iglesia ni Cristo rally scheduled for Wednesday at the EDSA People Power Monument in Quezon City may attract more attendees than the previous day. According to NCRPO spokesperson Police Major Hazel Asilo, the rally may match or exceed the attendance recorded on Tuesday, which peaked at approximately 15,500 people. The increased turnout is attributed to the religious group’s acquisition of the necessary rally permit, allowing more members to participate.

The Quezon City government approved the rally permit request on Tuesday, authorizing a peaceful assembly along White Plains Avenue to Temple Drive from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The city’s Department of Public Order and Safety stated they had no objection to the rally. In preparation, the NCRPO deployed approximately 3,000 personnel to maintain order near the venue. Coordination with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has been intensified to ensure traffic flow along EDSA remains clear.

Early estimates placed crowd numbers at around 5,000 as of 6 a.m. on Wednesday. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely to ensure public safety and order during the event. This rally comes with prior coordination between police units and local government agencies, reflecting an organized approach to managing large-scale public gatherings in the metropolitan area.
