NAIA to Serve Over 1.35 Million Passengers During 2026 Holy Week Travel Peak

New NAIA Infra Corp. anticipates a slight increase in passenger numbers during the Holy Week period from March 28 to April 5, 2026, compared to the previous year, with enhanced airport measures to manage the influx.

The New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC), which operates Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), announced that it expects over 1.35 million passengers to pass through the airport during the 2026 Holy Week travel period between March 28 and April 5. This represents a modest increase compared to the 1,326,730 passengers recorded during Holy Week 2025.

NNIC noted that passenger demand remains strong despite some flight suspensions and operational restrictions impacting services from the Middle East, which may temper growth slightly. In preparation for the busy season, the airport operator has implemented additional measures, including the deployment of more personnel at critical points such as check-in counters, immigration, and security screening areas.

Coordination has also been intensified with airlines, ground handlers, and government partners including the Department of Transportation, Manila International Airport Authority, Bureau of Immigration, Bureau of Customs, and the Office for Transportation Security. Passenger assistance desks will have extended hours, and real-time monitoring of terminal congestion will be in place to ensure smooth operations.

April 5, Easter Sunday, is forecast to be the busiest day with an anticipated 158,884 passengers, closely followed by the opening day of the travel period, March 28, with 157,804 passengers. Throughout the nine-day period, daily passenger numbers are expected to exceed 143,000.

Terminal 3 is expected to handle the highest volume at approximately 712,932 passengers, followed by Terminal 2 with 346,342 passengers, and Terminal 1 with 293,990 passengers. Passengers are advised to check flight updates, allow extra travel time, and arrive early. International travelers are reminded to complete their eTravel registration prior to arrival to prevent processing delays.

These actions aim to ensure efficient and safe travel for the substantial number of passengers utilizing the Philippines’ primary international gateway during one of the busiest travel seasons of the year.
