Palace Denies Plans to Replace DICT Chief Henry Aguda with Edwin Lacierda

Malacañang refutes rumors about a leadership change at the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), confirming Henry Aguda remains as head of the agency.

Malacañang Palace officially denied reports circulating that former presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda was being considered to replace Henry Aguda as head of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT). In a statement provided on March 13, 2026, Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro confirmed that there are no plans to change DICT leadership at this time.

The denial came after questions arose regarding a possible reshuffling in the agency’s top post. Meanwhile, it was also announced that Christina Frasco has taken on a new role as Presidential Adviser for Sustainable and Resilient Communities, leaving her previous position as head of the Department of Tourism. The Department of Tourism will now be led by officer-in-charge Undersecretary Verna Buensuceso.

Henry Aguda continues to serve as DICT Secretary, focusing on initiatives like affordable internet connectivity and digital services for Filipinos. The official clarification seeks to quell speculation and reinforce stability within government agencies involved in technology and communication advancements.
